- Unheard Voices: Marginal farmers in Zambia's Western Province
Half of the world’s undernourished people, three-quarters of Africa’s malnourished children, and the majority of people living in absolute poverty, live on small farms where they struggle to grow enough food to feed their families all year round. In theory these ’farming yet hungry’ farmers should be at the centre of efforts to defeat poverty and hunger, yet, distant from centres of power and influence, they have long suffered neglect by policy makers and their voices remain largely unheard.

Concern is committed to innovation and partnerships in its work against hunger. On World Food Day, 16 October, Concern is holding a Fighting Hunger Conference.
We include in this booklet a number of examples of our innovative work. The pioneering work of Valid International and Concern on developing community based approaches to tackling severe acute malnutrition has led to a change in international nutrition policy. We hope that our programme of applied research on nutrition and HIV and AIDS, in association with our partners IFPRI and the Kerry Group, will provide evidence to achieve significant policy change.

- CTC Learning Forum Report - Quality Training for Health Workers
The sixth CTC Learning Forum was held in Lilongwe district in February, 2008, and focused on efforts being made to improve the quality and effectiveness of training for CTC in Malawi. Training is a major investment in starting and maintaining a CTC program. At the moment, all training for CTC is done as in service training, although some doctors, nurses, and clinicians in Malawi receive pre-service training on inpatient management of acute malnutrition through Nutrition Rehabilitation Units. As the Malawi government increasingly takes on responsibility for the management of CTC through the health system, it is even more important that effective, standardized training and tools are available for districts to conduct their own CTC trainings. - Exploring Genoicde
Never again. This is what the world said after the Holocaust of the Second World War. Then there was
Bosnia and, in between, Rwanda. The genocide in Rwanda in 1994 resulted in the merciless slaughter of more than 800,000 Rwandan citizens in the space of just 100 days - while the world watched and did nothing.
