Honouring our supporters
Wednesday, 1 October 2008
Almost 100 Concern volunteers and supporters have been honoured at a reception in Stormont Parliament Buildings.
The event was held to mark Concern’s 40th anniversary and almost 25 years of having an office in Belfast.
Those present included members of Concern community groups across Northern Ireland, as well as current and former staff and overseas volunteers. Assembly members Carmel Hanna, Jim Wells and David Ford jointly hosted the event in the Long Gallery.
Many achievements
Chair of the Concern UK board of Trustees, Myles Wickstead, spoke about some of Concern’s many achievements over the last four decades and introduced a video message from CEO Tom Arnold, who missed the event in order to address a UN conference on hunger. Guests were treated to a short film outlining various aspects of our campaigning and practical work, followed by a meal.
